1. In USA you will find Cleaner surroundings as compared to India
2.People normally own a car here as it is a necessity in most of the USA as compared to India where it is still a luxury.
3. The life here is lonely as compared to that in India, so this can be an advantage if you consider people in India are too interfering and can be a disadvantage if you like to stay close to you family ,friends and relatives.
4. If you have enough money then there is no comfort in life that you can't own.USA has machines for almost any thing that you can imagine ,but it all comes at a cost.
5. It is very easy to get into health problem in USA, as you hardly do any physical activities and the american food normally high on sugar and fats,as compared to india where the food normally has ingredient that give you a balanced diet plus you have to do a lot of physical activities in daily life.
6. In USA the options to stay fit is to go to gym regularly and eat the super expensive healthy food, which i feel is the regular food that you get in india OR you can continue eating the normal american food and later in your life take medicines to stay alive, (which is an expensive option but people normally are covered by Medi-claim here).
7. Every thing is super commercialized from the festivals to the daily things that you do in your life. Its almost like the advertisers are trying to tell you that you are supposed to buy or do something that makes you spend money every single day as compared to india where the commercialization has just started.
8.The work culture is great in USA,people appreciate when you do something that needs appreciation, as compared to India where the appreciation is very limited.
9. People in USA are not commonly to know about what India or any other country is actually like as compared to people in India who always fascinated by the other parts of the world.
10. Marriage is not one of the major goals of people in 20's in america, unlike india where somewhere in their minds people have already planned to get married at 26-30 years of age and settle down.
There might be a 100 such difference which will prove that US is a way better country to live in, but the ultimately it all depends on what are you looking for in a place to stay.
And if someone is trying to find reasons to prove USA is better then India, just try to understand that you are comparing a 200+ year old country to a 60+ year old country, which i think is unfair.
I can offer a bit of a different perspective. I have noticed that all the answers have been from Indians living in America, but I can provide a different perspective because I am an American living in Hyderabad.
Indians are very kind people.
Oftentimes, I look like a fish out of water and people will go the extra mile to help me out. The other day, I was trying to cross Hitech City Rd. alone. As anyone who lives in Hyderabad knows, the traffic can be pretty daunting and the road crossing rules are much different from the US. An auto rickshaw driver helped me cross by taking an extra wide and slow turn.
As levels of English vary, sometimes it is difficult to communicate especially because I have an American accent. On more than one occasion, people have helped me order at the hotel or get me going where I need to go because the person I was interacting with didn’t understand what I was saying.
In these two cases, Americans wouldn’t help out a struggling immigrant. We’re overexposed and uninterested in them that we wouldn’t take time to make sure a visitor to our country is feeling comfortable.
Indians are more tolerant of other religions.
With such diversity, it is amazing how harmoniously people of many religions can exist. I have never once felt any sort of hostility for being Roman Catholic. All the interfaith dialog I’ve had has been wonderful.
I cannot say the same thing about my country, although, we do our best to be religiously tolerant.
India feels very safe.
I can walk around at night alone and not feel like I am going to get attacked or mugged in most areas I’ve been to. The vibe is positive.
I cannot say the same for some parts of my country. The inner city of many metropolitan areas just doesn’t have a good vibe to it and muggings do occur.
Hyderabad is the best place for biryani.
I won’t be able to go back to the states and expect a quality biryani. It’s just not going to happen.
Indians don’t have good manners as per American standards.
We don’t really use “please”, “thank you”, and “have a nice day” as much as I am accustomed. That still doesn’t stop me from using such words and people are happy hearing them.
Americans will perceive a lack of proper etiquette while standing in line or moving with a group of people. While I have learned the rules, I still feel bad about cutting in front of that old lady while going into the shopping mall or leaving the aircraft.
In India, we eat with our hands. In America, our mothers hit us if we eat with our hands because it is seen as bad manners. When my mother came to visit me in India, she had to resist her impulses to hit me while I was eating with my hands. Honestly, I prefer to eat with a spoon.
Americans do not like being asked how much their salary is or being told that they’re fat. Such things are personal business and not topics of conversation with anyone other than an extremely close friend.
Indians are unwilling to point out bad behavior in others directly.
Indians won’t scold each other generally for doing something stupid. Americans do and we don’t pull any punches.
It’s extremely challenging to get feedback so I can improve how I interact with others unless I do something outrageous (like eat with both hands).
Infrastructure and trash.
There is nothing worse than a power outage and no water during the hot season in Hyderabad.
Going over bumpy roads while having digestive issues due to the spicy food is never fun. Neither is extra traffic caused by a road getting washed out.
I wish there were more trash cans. Every time I am forced to litter, I feel as if I am betraying my elementary school teachers and Ranger Brian from Crater Lake National Park. It kills me inside.
I believe that the United States and India could have a beautiful future together as global partners. There is so much that we can learn from our different ways of doing things. Living in each other’s countries definitely isn’t for every Indian or every American but we should at least take the time to study each other’s culture more.
